I am getting a message that my attempted post exceeds a character limit that, by trial and error, seems to be about 350 characters.
While limiting me to the number of characters in a tweet may actually be a good idea, I can’t find any rule on this. No one else in the relevant thread seems to have such a strict character limit.
If I had been subject to this character limit for all of my time on CC, I would probably have around 500 posts.
There is a word or character limit, but it’s well beyond 350 characters (or even 350 words). What the specific is, IDK, perhaps @CCadmin_Sorin can chime in. But I tested an 1100 word post which went through without an issue.
Once you get beyond the limit (and really, I’m not sure why a post would be beyond that limit other than decision posts), it can always be split into 2.
@JHS, we do have a character limit per post on CC. However, it is not set at 350. I tested it now and here’s what should happen: when you post a comment that exceeds the character limit, you get a notification saying
Can it be that you saw something like “Body is 350 characters too long.”?
I was getting a message that I was 359 or 601 or 822 characters over the limit. By trial and error, I figured out that the excess character message was triggered when I went over four full lines of typing, which seemed to be around 300-350 characters.
I’m aware that there has always been a character limit per post, but it has been high enough so that I’ve only encountered it once or twice. This morning’s limit was obviously different.
