Characters in books from English that you absolutely abhorred?

Ignatius from A Confederacy of Dunces.

^Ignatius is the whole point of the book. Why did you read it?

I don't think anybody can hate Moby Dick after they've seen Moby Dick! The Musical.

Hester Prynne wins - I agree with most people here, I'd shoot her in a second. Great, she's a diiikkeeee woman who sews crap and has a letter for no shame, wow.

Abigail from the crucible -- agree there too.

I wouldn't mind blowing to pieces all of the characters from A Separate Peace (wow pun, didn't even notice as I was typing)

And though many people love Holden Caulfield, I didn't. guh....

I liked the book, I just hated the character.

Practically everyone from As You Like It (Shakespeare)
Umbridge from HP
Aarfy from Catch-22
Wang Lung from The Good Earth

and what's with all the hating on Iago? Yes he was evil but he was deliciously evil...not like Richard III who we completely lose sympathy with at the end.

Lady Macbeth- Macbeth
Claudius- Hamlet
Polonius- Hamlet
Kathy (I think that was her name)- East of Eden
Puck- A Midsummer Night's Dream

ugh so many more.

Anna Karenina. Gosh.

Holden Caulfield from Catcher in the Rye. I wanted to gag him and throw him in a shoebox.
Romeo from Romeo & Juliet. He was such a little pansy.
Mr. Elton and Augusta Hawkins from Emma. SO annoying.
Jack from Lord of the Flies. Kill yourself, dammit.
Any and all characters from Screwtape Letters. This was just a horrible book in general.

That's all that comes to mind since I usually forget the books that I read.

Lolita is such an annoying brat. god.
