We all hate Jane Eyre

For those of you who have read any of her books, did you ever notice the way Mrs. Bennet addresses Mr. Bennet in Pride and Prejudice?

I mean, the woman is SLEEPING with the guy. She has sex with him every night. This lady has kids with this man. But yet- she still calls him "Mr. Bennet". Even when they are in private.

I know these were other times but, excuse my language, Jane Eyre was tripping.

I pretended to read Jane Eyre and I used Sparknotes, so I don't remember that part.

Before the middle of the 20th century, that's the way it was for upper class society.

"Jane Eyre was tripping"
^Jane Austen, do you mean? 0_0

Jane Eyre is another novel entirely, written by Charlotte Bronte.

LMFAO. I love how you post a thread of your insecurities of entitling people. hahaha. Who am I to talk though? hahaha

LOL!!!!!!!!!!!

Omg yes!!! I totally meant Jane Austen! Oh gosh my ignorance cracks me up. =D

Rofl @ This Topic

who the heck is jane eyre or jane austen?

pride and prejudice? WHAT???

what is this madness.

^ I know. I am totally lost!

i like jane eyre

I don't know! I sparknoted all the books for English class in the past 2 years.

I liked Jane Eyre. I can't explain why, but I was never disappointed after reading it.

Jane Austen, on the other hand, is totally overrated, and I wouldn't reread Pride and Prejudice even if a gun was held up against my head.

What if a knife was held up to your nuts?

Okay, maybe then. But I would have to have an ample supply of Pepto-Bismol around.

my mom made me, er encouraged me to read Jane Eyre when I was about 8 years old. I actually liked it after getting into it. Pride and Prejudice,on the other hand, i couldn't bear to finish

LMAO do you actually read when you're 8 years old, especially a book of that length.

...

I actually like Jane Austen >_> dodges rocks

Seriously though, if you want to give her a shot, read Persuasion, not Pride & Prejudice. It's shorter and a more enjoyable read.

Conclusion: Both Pride and Prejudice and Jane Eyre suck. (I've never read either.)

I remember nailing down my first novels when I was 7. It started with all those "chapter books" but it quickly turned into literature soon after.

Yeah, I began my first novels around 6-7 too. I think 8 is normal but a little later than usual. However, reading Jane Eyre at 8 is just crazy.

I actually liked Pride and Prejudice...except for the sappy ending.
