Hi Guys, I'm hoping someone can provide some answers here since financial aid is now swamped and they can't be reached by phone. Received the tuition statement and charges due. It said my son's charged were deferred awaiting award (I'm assuming bright futures and another scholarship) but then when I went in yesterday it said it was paid in full thru his student loan! So what happens now? When Bright Futures funds everything is already paid in full. I thought they were going to wait or only take what Bright Futures isn't going to pay for? It also says he can cancel the loan in 14 days but then what? They drop his classes? Guidance please! So confused.

If you have other billed expenses, the Bright Futures money will be used to pay those bills. If he lives off campus and you have no other UF billed expenses, you will receive your money as a refund. In other words…BF money is not only used towards tuition, they can put it towards housing or any other billed expense. This comes from my experience last year, so I assume this year will be the same.

2collegekids - Thank you! So if I’m understanding correctly what will happen is when Bright Futures funds if there are no charges due they will send him the money?
Thanks :)

We signed up for UF to Direct Deposit any refunds to my sons bank account, and about 10 days after classes started… after add/drop period, so that they know for sure how many credits they actually are taking, which in turn, decides how much Bright Futures money to award, they refunded him the leftover money.

Great, thank you! That’s what they just did with his left over student loan money. Thank you so much for responding! Trying to get thru to financial aid today was just impossible.
