Charismatic speakers in the world's past and present

who do you think were some of the most charismatic speakers? politicians/religous leaders/revolutionaries, etc...

Martin Luther King
Ronald Reagan
JFK
Hitler
Lenin

Barbara Jordan=House of Representatives from Texas

Stalin and I assume Chairman Mao Zedong since they both were able to do some absolutely horrible things while they ruled but still have the support of many.

Richard H. Brodhead

Winston Churchill

FDR
Ghandi
Mussolini (bad guy but he got support of the rich and poor)

Hitler is the best speaker of all time. He went from nothing to the most powerful dictator in Europe.

Bush is the worst speaker in terms of people holding power.

William Jennings Bryan

(Cross of Gold!)

Obama

TR

FDR

Lincoln

Napoleon

Mao was pretty good so was Joseph Goebbels, Hitlers propoganda minister.

I side with the Hitler vote. His specious trope was just mesmerizing as any reverie from Martin Luther King. The History Channel has most of the videotapes of these speeches.

well, I will stick to those who spoke during my time:

Bill Clinton
Barack Obama

i hear so much about Obama, but i've never heard her speak. i heard she wants to run for the next democrat president

him*

i watched his speech at the democratic convention. he was just elected senator of illinois (w/ over 80% of the vote), but its too soon for him to run in 2008. probably 2012 (as hilary WILL win the democratic primary for 2008 and lose the general election).

Yeah I'm gonna ignore that person that called Barack Obama a girl...

I second the Bill Clinton and Barack Obama vote.

oh give her a break. most people don't know who obama is, especially if you didnt watch the democratic convention.

Presently...
Bill Clinton is very charismatic, which allows him to get away with sub-par performance :)
Obama is kinda charismatic, but also overrated, in my opinion. The media likes to give him extra attention because of his "story" if you may.
Bush at times can be very charismatic (contrary to the liberals want you to think). When the topics are trivial, he isn't that charismatic. But, if you look at his speeches after 911 and before the Iraq war, he is very charismatic and impacting. His "just another American" persona adds to it.

I agree that Hillary wins the primary, but loses the election. It's McCain's turn.

the reason that i called obama a "she" was because my friend and i were talking about female politicians. and i said that hilary clinton would probably run for the democrats in 08, but my friend said she loved obama. and since we were on the topic of female politicians, i just assumed obama was one, too.

I dont think many people necessarily like charismatic speakers and that is why bush succeeds.

I would also have to disagree with Clinton getting away with sub - par performance. He didnt get many Americans killed.

its ok liz, women are minority politicians just like African Americans, so you were on the right track.
