CHE 210 book??

For this year's CHE 210, the co-op says that the class REQUIRES "ENGINEERING W/EXCEL+MATLAB FOR ENGNRS", a book that even bigwords.com don't have in stock. And it's pricey: $129.60.

Now, the Co-op also lists two other books, marked as ALTERNATE:
1. ENGINEERING W/EXCEL ($72.00 new, bigwords have them much cheaper)
2. MATLAB FOR ENGINEERS ($72.00 new, bigwords have them much cheaper)

Now, what I understand is that the REQUIRED book is like a compilation of the two ALTERNATE books. So, which one out of these three should I buy?

“ENGINEERING W/EXCEL+MATLAB FOR ENGNRS” is basically a package deal where you get both books new for $130. More convenient as its found at the co-op, but more costly than other options.

Remember, it is MUCH cheaper to shop for these books separately at websites like bigwords.com or bestbookdeal.com. Also, I love these sites because they include shipping in the calculations. Just make sure the ISBN (its unique 10 or 13-digit number) of the book you’re looking at on these online marketplaces matches the ISBN of the book you need.

Good luck!

I’m going to buy the books separately from Amazon.com. They’re about $53 each (new) there.

^ ditto. Buy them separate. Too bad I already sold mines or else I would’ve sold you mines >:(

but word of advice. you don’t even use the book in the class … at all… it’s a complete waste of money

honestly, I’d wait and see if you really need them.

I didn’t open either of those books…ever… when I took the class. If you’ve ever done any sort of simple programming (java, c++) and you know the basics of excel, the class is a breeze.

@utche11: How is the professor for CHE 210?

he’s good. Swinnea? good guy. boring lecture especially at 8 A.M. but good and resourceful professor.

^ Thanks for the heads up.

Thanks for the info. Gonna buy separate!
