Cheapest/Best place(s) to buy groceries...

No, the D.C.s (Dining Commons or Cafetera) don’t have bottled waters. They function like a buffet style restaurant with people serving food and soda/ice cream/cereal refill machines. If you want bottled water you have to buy them at campus stores, but I personally got along quite well with tap water. It’s clean, tasteless, and best of the Bay Area.

I used to put 2 or 3 fruits in my pockets and eat em as a snack the next day. But the fruits they have tin the DC don’t taste that good…

I’d be Costco’s biggest customer. Do they have one around Berkeley? o_O

There won’t be one in Berkeley or SF, but if you bring a car, you should be one within driving distance. You’d only be able to safely transport stuff on weekends, though (parking near to campus is allowed as of Friday evenings even if the car’s normally in the storage lot).

I think the nearest Costco is in San Leandro, 20-30 min drive?

No, Richmond. It’s like 5 minutes away if the freeway’s good.

GASP I didn’t know that! I think I’m in love with you :DDDD

There is a Costco in San Francisco on 10th Street and Bryant, but it sounds like the Richmond one would be a lot easier to get to if you live in the East Bay.

mmm frozen foods =]

A new Trader Joe’s is opening this Fall (not sure which month) at the intersection of University and Martin Luther King.

trader joes is opening in the spring of 2010 at mlk and university

How close is that to campus?

A few blocks from the west side. Not far.
