i dont know man... the guy i asked is in charge of star testing in california at my school and seems to be pretty credible to me. he said that CB has a list of students who cheated on SAT and AP tests and sends that list to most colleges. i am guessing the colleges that are excluded from receiving that list would be community colleges. he told me of a kid who had stellar grades, academic grades, ecs, etc.. but then this kid cheated on the SAT, a proctor reported him to CB, and his future is now pretty grim as he got rejected by all the top colleges... if you want to know what hes doing right now hes going to nearby local community college in Pasadena... oh yeah because cb doesnt know where you will apply to college.. cb he said basically sends that list of dishonest students to almost EVERY college.

I think the poster previous to Leftylink is right in that the CB is a private entity but it's not as if their tests are obscurely supplemental; colleges take the CB's integrity very seriously. I think that academic dishonesty, wherever it occurs, is likely to be a black mark.

"basically i just think that his scores will get canceled and thats it. im quite sure that the office of integrity does not have time to contact each and every college for every single cheater in the nation. you dont even have to report your AP grades...i dont see why he would get rescinded for it."

What you're missing is the school component. This happened inside the school which happens to still have to send in his final transcript. Some high schools feel so strongly that they do contact colleges to report such information. This is a serious breach of academic integrity. The bottom line is that if the college finds out, they will take action. The poster just doesn't know right now if his college will find out.

yea thats what i said..if he does get reported, he's gonna get rescinded, but i don't think he will get reported. who knows.

would a school really report someone who cheated on the AP test? i dont think mine would...schools that do must be pretty strict. in my school, even when a student cheats on a test in class, he/she just gets a 0 and nothing more (maybe some serious consequences if its repeated).

I might be alone in this...but i think rescinding for cheating on 1 test is dumb. unless you already have a previous record, which apparently you don't, then this shouldn't be taken out of proportion. i think they should give you a second chance.

well they do know because i have already called my regional director and asked her about the policy. so she (and the college) must have an inkling..

maybe my school wont report, but i already told my regional director that i was involved in some sort of cheating.

i just hope i do get a second chance...

When you left a message, did you give your name & contact number? Does she know who you are?

yes i did.

you can even try showing them this thread to help your case :)

shoot, im trying to push this thread to the next page cause im just trying to go with the flow now and see what happens when im honest about everything. hahah. but that wont work. oh well...

3365s post is making me hella nervous, has anybody heard of that before?

That's really gay...cheating is take way tooo seriously. do they honestly think 1 cheat is going to make someone a horribly bad person who is not elegible for college anymore? so idiotic...

but if they DO rescind you, i will lose all respect for U Penn

hey everyone.. i dont mean to make anyone nervous.. i am just offering an ANECDOTAL story that a school official told me. maybe he lied to me so i wouldnt cheat (highly doubt it) but the point i am trying to make is that one should never cheat and theres no reason to cheat. i really hope that the situation of op works out for him/her because it would be sad to see your dreams in shatters because of a bad choice.

kingofqueens: why would that make you lose respect for UPenn? Isn't someone stupid enough to cheat someone who should be kicked out to make way for another who wasn't?

kingofqueens: you're stupid.

Everyone competing at this level has high scores, great recommendations and fantastic extracurriculars. They can easily dump one accepted student for another great student from the waitlist, one who doesn't cheats.

It's already too late anyway...almost everyone has sent their college decisions, so no one would would take his place at U Penn anyway

It's his first time, and he wasn't the one who started the cheat. someone else texted him. It's a very minor offense if you think about it.

I've heard of people doing a lot worse. This is nothing.

Duper: stop trolling

You're totally right, it's too late. Not like people are still getting packages or anything.

It's funny; I had the same advice for you, kid.

why turn this around about waitlisting? the point i made was that what he did was not worth being rescinded for.

And by the way, your the one that came in here and called me stupid, troll...

I would not have if it weren't warranted. I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt and assume you're a fresh/soph. The point is the OP will EASILY be replaced if he were rescinded. But that'd be really gay. No?

Why the OP had a phone on him in the first place disturbs me.

So you were only trying to help your friend. What about in the future, when you might be responsible for other people's money or property? Doesn't hurt to embezzle to help your friend, right? I mean, that's much less worse than embezzling to help yourself. rolleyes
