Check decision

hey,

i've heard a lot about the thing the old dean of admissions did with yale.. by hacking into yale's computer and such.. does anyone have any article or knows what happened as a result of that? what did yale do?

this kind of things must have severely tarnished princeton's reputation....

I just called the admissions office. The old lady I spoke to was pretty funny. I asked her to check if i was in their system since I never got one of those "compete" cards and she was like "oh those things, you know, they're flimsly little things, don't worry about it too much!". Just funny the way she said it.

Anyways, I asked when they were mailing. She said no exact date, but they will be mailing the first week of April.

well the official ivy release date is march 31st

Okay, so I'm definitely calling on April 1. But I hate to put someone in the position of having to tell me (by saying out loud) that I was rejected.

i had to do that to be told on the phone that i was deferred :(

What do they do? Do they read you the whole deferral letter or do they just bluntly say, "You're deferred/ You're rejected/ You're accepted"?

my friend called up Dmouth when he applied early, and they simply said "[name], deferred" and hung up the phone.

they hung up? just like that? brutal.

or maybe not.

It may not be too exciting if they do not hang up right away.

Applicant: Can I get my decision?
Pton: Just one second... let's see... you are rejected.
Applicant: (fainting)
Pton: It's not bad news at all. we accept some of our applicants, and it turns out that you were not good enough to be accepted as one of them.
Applicant: o...k..
Pton: Well, you can still enjoy your life at somewhere other than Princeton! Did you contact any nearby community colleges? they will be more than happy to help you.
Applicant: (gasping for air)
Pton: We might have accepted you if you retook that 1490.
Applicant: ...
Pton: Hello?

not so good.

yeah, he said it was pretty wierd.

because of course, if you dont get into princeton, you must go to community college.

yep, that is the fate and destiny of Princeton rejects :-( community college and AA meetings.

:-(

you guys are hilarious

LOL....i'm definitely calling on april 1st.....i don't mind a cold phone call

I'm not happy that Princeton doesn't release decisions online, but I don't think I have strong enough nerves to call...

gianievve: if i email them, do i have to provide them some information about me?

PierreMarie, you should email them with the same email address you put on your application, else they won't release your decision. Provide them with your full name, address, school and date of birth.

Pierre - I'm not 100% sure about how the email decision works because that wasn't how I got my decision... maybe astrix can clear this one up for you. If you email, though, I think you should just give a few identification details: name, dob, school/country and perhaps your ssn/id number. It shouldn't be a problem.

If you choose to call, you can get your decision around April 02/03 - or if you call right on April 1st I think they'll tell you that you will be getting your decision by mail soon, but they'll probably let you know your decision anyway. Either way, I doubt they'll hang up on you folks - Pton is more student friendly ;)

Edit: Hadn't seen mercury's post. His advice is good to go.

Are you sure we can call and check?

Are you sure we can call and check?

Why not? We could call and check for ED so I'm sure it's the same for RD. You could call the office and ask if you can call for your decision...
