I'm going to be receiving the e-mail/online notification from my Ivy league schools this Thursday and I don't know if I should indulge myself by finding out online or if I should wait for the letters. What are you going to do?

Does anyone know when the acceptances/rejections are going to be mailed out or when they're due to arrive? (I'm in the San Francisco Bay Area)

I would rather wait for them to come in the mail. This way I can see in advance if it is a thick or thin envelope and prepare myself for the decision instead of seeing the decision of all schools on line in a few minuites.
I have read that decisions for the ivy league are sent mostly by FedEx priority mail. That would mean they would take 2-3 days to arrive by a Fed Ex carrier. If the decisions are mailed out later in the day on Thursday where I live they probably would not arrive until Monday or Tuesday. There is a chance one decision could arrive on Saturday

You MAY get the the regular mail envelope BEFORE the email decision!! The email decisions aren't posted until after 5:00. I got my MIT decision in the mail before it was posted online.

I'm checking online. I'm 99.9% certain that I won't be getting into any of my three Ivies. If, magically, I get in, it would probably be better for me to be sitting down inside than standing near the road at my mailbox.

I'm planning to wait for letters, despite being international. (Er, I'm being needlessly superstitious here, but -- my only acceptance has been by post, while my rejections were all online. You can't blame me!)

If you live near the schools you could get your decisions before they come on line. However if you are applying to schools in the northeast and live in the south or another part of the country and they are mailed out on the 29th, it would take a few days for them to come even with priority mail
