Checked wrong prompt for main essay

Hey guys, I just realized that in the entire "duplicate versions" mess that I am sure many of you also dealt with, I accidentally had the wrong box checked for which essay I was writing in the main Common App essay. I wrote an essay in response to the "significant person" essay, yet had the "significant event" box marked off for the essay I wrote to Chapel Hill back in October. It's a stupid mistake, but somebody told me not to worry; they sometimes just guess your prompt by reading your essay. I am worried, however. Would it be more detrimental to e-mail the schools (this includes Cornell and Brown) and have them be aware of my mistake, or not to do anything at all and hope they understand?

I believe this was the mistake of working on these for so long that some things I never checked back over again because in my head I "knew" they were absolutely correct.

I really don’t know but colleges mainly focus on the Essay ITSELF, the way its written and the main idea. I think Its not a big deal that you made a little mistake.
Lets just hope your essay is BAM!! and that they would see that!

Most students check the topic of your choice option, and I’m pretty sure adcoms only read the essay – in other words, they don’t pay much attention to the prompt selection.

Don’t worry.
