Checking Financial Aid Online

@Yestermorrow
What state do you live in??

@metsrule50
California. Why, has your admission packet not come yet? What state are you in?

I live in New York and haven’t received it yet. It’ll prob come tomorrow or Wednesday.

Financial aid info should be online soon. I just checked the website one day, and there it was (I applied ED). The info will also come later in the mail.

Yestermorrow, we’re in Ca., too, but my son didn’t receive his package today.

Looks like financial aid offers will be online soon!

I got my acceptance package today.

@Batfan: Yeah, I just checked the financial aid site and now it has extra tabs like “awards” and “outside scholarships”. But when I clicked "awards"it just said At this time, our records indicate that you have no awards available to view.
I really hope this is just a preliminary page. Did anyone else get this message?

Call or email the FA office. They are very responsive.
Did you link from Pathway? I believe you will have a Financial Assisance tab on Pathway under that will be an Instructions link and a Student Financial Servicesi link - that should bring you to your FA offer. If those lins aren’t here, your FA hasn’t been posted yet.

@Yestermorrow,

Yup, I have the same thing showing up - which is why I think they’ll probably be up soon. :)

Our FA info was online yesterday morning.

I checked again this morning, and the new tabs were gone! Frustrated at being sent back to square 1, I called the FA office. They said there was a problem loading the data, and it should be on the site later today or tomorrow. Darn, and I was all excited to wake up and find that I could suddenly afford college ^_^

Wash U is going to meet your need based on FASFA. As an example, if your FASFA report showed your family contribution to be $15,000, Wash U will offer your $41,000 (difference between $56,000 and your family contribution). The offer will be made up of grant, loan and work study. If that still leaves you short, they will work with you to get the expense $ up by adding travel, books etc. Most likely any additional FA above the original offer will be in a subsidized loan (no interest accumulation while a student and a low fixed interest rate).

I called the financial aid office this morning and was told the FA packages were mailed out yesterday (March 13).

@onecot:
Yep, I know they meet need, but most schools do that by giving a lot in loans, and I don’t want that. Loans add up, and I want to go to grad school. That’s why I’m so anxious–I’m waiting to see if I get enough grant money. I’m also waiting on two Wash U scholarships, so you can see why the stress is killing me! Thanks for the explanation though, it will probably help other people on this thread.

The finaid is on the website!

It’s not visible for me, even though the tabs are up…

I am impressed with WASHU FA offer. They have said that when you get in, they will take care of you and work with you. They met financial need with 5500 obligatory subsidized loan, 2000 work study, and the rest in scholarships. COA about 63,000 - EFC = financial need. Also outside scholarships does not reduce your washu scholarship. It reduces EFC first, then loans, then scholarships if for some reason you got a large outside scholarship. And for those parents who have less than 60,000 total income, they will try to offer no loans FA.

Wash U is going to meet your need based on FASFA.
@onecot
They do meet need but not based on FAFSA? They take into account if you have net worth on your primary residence. I think 5% and add that to the FAFSA need.

So has everyone gotten their financial aid estimates online?

The tabs are up, but it still says I have no award available to view. What is going on?!!
