Financial Aid

I was checking my statuses on myuw and on my financial aid status, it says that I did not apply it. Wasn't the "app" for financial aid the fafsa?? I have already turned in my fafsa like in early Jan. Anyone know??

I thought what is shown on the status is for 2009-10.

Got an email from UW just after I posted the previous message

We have received your financial aid application for the 2010-11 year. If
you are a continuing student or are admitted to the UW, and are eligible
for aid, we will send you an award letter and information about process-
ing aid. Your application is subject to a review process. We may ask
you to provide information before or after we offer you aid. Please
respond promptly to any request and be sure to inform us of any change
of address. You will be notified of any adjustments made as a result of
our review.

^ I also received the exact same mail

iloveuw - did you make sure to complete the correct FAFSA (2010-2011)?

oh haha nvm, i got the email too :stuck_out_tongue:
thanks for telling me :)

Does anyone have any idea on when people are informed of what rewards they are given? I’m already accepted, but I applied for financial aid last week. I also received the financial aid message previously stated in this thread.

Just looked through my old emails…the year I got accepted, I received the notification of my award on 3/21. But I didn’t receive the email saying they received my application until 2/25. So I guess maybe the process is a little faster now. I guess you might find out your award in about a month?

Accepted 12/13, completed FAFSA 1/10 with UW code, updated FAFSA 2/14 with real tax info. Accepted offer 2/5. They have received fee and immunity form. No email yet on aid. Just a link that goes nowhere in myUW (to a 2009 aid message that no FAFSA submitted).

does anyone know how this financial aid works?
is uw sending us a letter or email that they will provide some aid or will fafsa contact us?

UW sends an email that says “Notice of Financial Aid Offer” or something like that. Then they give you a link that you can go click on and see the award. FAFSA won’t contact you at all.

i got an email from them requesting me for income, tax, etc. confirmation.
it also asked me to fill this form and mail the forms to them, but i can’t open it.
is anyone in the same situation as i am?

iloveuw,

Hey, I got the same email today. I am planning to mail out my copied tax documents. Ugh, does this mean I have to wait until they go through the whole confirmation process? :(

Hmm, but mine didnt include the form. Your link doesn’t work btw.

I got :

To confirm your 2010-11 financial aid eligibility, our office requires
additional information about your parent(s)’ 2009 income.

Use this checklist to assist you in submitting ALL of the following
documents to our office:

Make a copy of your parent(s)’ 2009 federal tax from (1040, 1040A,
or 1040EZ). INCLUDE:

all schedules/attachments
your parent(s)’ 2009 W-2s
the 2009 tax form must bear the signature of your parent
or tax preparer.

If you parent(s) filed a foreign tax form, submit a signed, translated
copy with all monetary values converted to U.S. Dollars. Please INCLUDE
student name and student ID# on all documents you submit.

Your offer of financial aid cannot be finalized until this information
is received and reviewed by our office. Review our website or contact
our office if you need additional information or assistance.

That link works fine for me on firefox.

yeah it worked today.

If we receive financial aid, do they tell us for what we can use it for or do we have the choice to pay for w/e we want to use it for? (school related of course)

also, i tuned in FAFSA earlier than when my family’s recent income/tax report came out. i had to estimate how much it was going to come out at the time i was filling in FAFSA.
i have recently turned in my forms to the office, but i think the info won’t match, cuz again, i used estimate. will this become a problem because my numbers won’t match?

ok so i need to correct my question

the first question is fine, but i still need an answer for this.

my second question: i made corrections on FAFSA today…however, what really bugs me is that even though i sent my first FAFSA within the priority date, my correction was sent after the priority date. will this affect me?
