Has anyone received their financial aid packet yet?

I checked online last night & they were posted there. Nothing via snail mail yet.

where did you check online?

Are you talking about your decision ?

where does one check financial aid numbers online? I have already been accepted.

You can't check financial aid online.. it just sends you to the site to see if you turned in your CSS and FAFSA.... im confused...and may be wrong as well...

I got that same thing lingotjuice

what is northeastmom2 talking about?

Bah, I just got mine in the mail. Useless. About 20K short of my EFC.

Yes, the fin aid is hard to find.

First, log in to check your applicaiton status.

Then click on "Financial Assistance Update."

Do NOT click on "If you would like to check the status of your file in the Office of Student Financial Services, please click here."

DO CLICK on "To learn more about financial assistance, click here or e-mail financial@wustl.edu to request information."

Hope this helps. Fin Aid amount was disappointing for us.

Oh I saw my Financial Aid, and i'm sooooo happy. This school is awesome!!!

OMG OMG OMG
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!!!
NORTHEAST MOM2 - Thank you for your help and I apologize if I got a little snippy just now....

NO LOANS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

mine was terrible but thanks for the help

thanks for letting us know! I was waiting for it... I guess I can't go to this school now. :(

lol...I know, icypineapple. It's such a sad, hopeless reality check after the more ecstatic admission state. After my crappy "award," I think my financial aid ignorance was definitely bliss.

Looking at WashU's financial aid website and reading all the things about how they try to make things possible financially, I can really see how much it's just a big euphemism of the harsh truth. Smoke and mirrors.

Oh well, it was worth a shot.

To all those in the same boat as I am, are you guys going to:
1a. Give up on WashU and go to a comparable school that offered better aid
1b. Give up on WashU and go to a less expensive, maybe not as great, school
2. Wait to see their financing options
3. Scrape the barrel to come up with the money...loans!

I don't really know what to think. I'm still waiting on a couple more letters, though.

If you don't think the award is enough, CALL THEM. Many students (myself included) have called SFS to appeal financial aid awards, and they WILL work with you to see what they can do, besides just loans.

oncampus...thanks for the advice. I am definitely not crossing WashU off my list yet. I know there are still possibilities for aid. I think the packet said that I would be getting a specific person to contact in a few days, and I do plan to do so.

However, I am still disappointed with my initial financial award and hoped that WashU wouldn't kick me on my side in the first place. It just reduces me to having to grovel and beg in order to get any sort of a footing, even if I do receive more financial support in the end.

i can't seem to check my financial aid b/c "my aid decision has not been done yet"...is this b/c i am a finalist for the danforth scholarship? i know i have turned in both css and fafsa and i know that they have received them.

yeah i also got this message: As of 5:00 p.m., Central Time, on 03/20/2008, you do not have a WU Financial Assistance Award. Please Check Your Application Status Online or contact the Office of Student Financial Services at (314) 935-5900 or toll-free at (888) 547-6670.

that means i got $0, right..? or might it mean that my account hasn't been updated online or whatever

NortheastMom2 thanks so much for helping me find the link.

Very happy with D's FA award.

If you have received a better financial aid offer from another private university, let them know about that, and it's possible that they can try and match or beat it. No guarantees, but it can't hurt.
