Here's discussion about registering for classes at last year's orientation:

Here’s info. on required writing classes and placement. According to this, most students would meet their first writing requirement by taking enwr 1510 in the spring.

Welcome

Note: the U. recently shifted from 3 to 4 digit course numbers. For example, Enwr 110 is now Enwr 1510.

From what I have read, it will be valuable for students to do their homework on course selection before they arrive at orientation. While there will be some profs and upperclass students available to help, there may not be anyone familiar with your major, and parents will not be with students during the registration.

Hi, are international students, whose mother tongue is not english, exempt from foreign language requirement?

I imagine that answer is on the foreign language websites of virginia.edu.

I believe there is a separate writing course available for persons for whom English is a second language.

Great post, thanks!
