is it true that being a cheerleader wont look like much when you apply to college?

my sister wants to be in cheer next year but she doesnt want to be in it if it wont look like a "real" extra-curricular activity.

besides she needs to fulfill her theater/perf. arts and the class "cheer" will not satisfy that requirement.

what advice can i give to my sister?

Who cares about what colleges think about whether it is a real EC or not. Just let her do what she loves. Life is too short to wonder what that underpaid, stressed-out admissions guy is going to think in his cramped out conference room.

Gryffon5147 is right. If people only did things in order to impress other people, there wouldn't be much of a world right now. She should probably go and try it for a while since there wouldn't be many such opportunities in the future.

I <3 cheerleaders :D

she should cheer, and do something else to fulfill the theatre requirement. i'm horribly biased as a theatre kid, of course, but i've seen so many kids try out for a play just to see what it's like, and then absolutely fall in love with theatre/doing shows/whatever.

cheer! Definitely. Actually, at my school, it's a humongous thing to get on the cheer squad, and it takes so much time and commitment that of course it would be an okay EC.

This is so sad...

Somebody will give up something they want to do just because it won't look great to colleges?

Wow, just wow.

If she wants to do it, she should do it.
