I was thinking about trying out for cheer, I did competition and spirit cheer all four years in high school and I really enjoyed it, but all of my friends hated it. Pretty much the entire school thought cheer was stupid and for mean sluts (my friends said I was the only “smart nice” cheerleader they knew, when plenty of the other girls were, it’s just such a bad stereotype) and prejudged all of us for no reason. I was wondering if this is the same at Davis? I don’t care if everyone likes me, I know that’s not realistic, I just don’t want a bunch of people to think bad thongs of me for no reason. Thanks!

While it’s only my first year here at UCD as a transfer, I haven’t heard any negative things about the cheer team at UCD. In fact, I don’t think students here really care about the cheerleaders. I also don’t see them around much, prob because unlike in high school where cheerleaders usually wear their uniform everywhere on days they’re cheering, the cheerleaders at UCD seem to only get into uniform right before they’re supposed to go out and cheer, so you don’t know who’s a cheerleader unless you personally know one. I’m not sure if the UCD cheer team is also part of the dance team, but when I saw a game last fall while volunteering at one of the booths, it looked like the cheer and dance teams were combined.

Ok thanks! I was thinking that no one would care, but that’s what I thought for highschool and I had been wrong, so thanks for the info!

High school is an odd and crazy thing in itself, I wouldn’t worry about it. I transferred in last year myself, and haven’t seen any cheerleaders outside of events they participate in… and I haven’t been to those either lol.

Best of luck I’m sure it’ll be fine. I know this much: They’re very pretty :)
