chem 14BL

so i have pang for bl this quarter. how difficult are his tests really? because everyone i've talked to basically said his tests were impossibly difficult and those on bruinwalk said as long as you REALLY know the concepts you should be fine (but isnt that for pretty much any class?...) anyway i guess for those of you who had him i just want to get your perspective?

If you're asking this question only now, you're not going to do well in Pang's class.

I had him for 20L. Yes, his exams are more difficult relative to other professors. Don't be surprised if the midterm class average hovers around 40% or below. Not only should you know the concepts, you should be able to consolidate them and be able to apply it in novel situations. I can guarantee you that anywhere from half to two-thirds of the midterm/final questions will be something you've never seen before even if you've done all the problems in the book.

ive heard that his class is so hard its good to aim for a B (which is what I'm doing). My strategy this quarter is not to stress too much about BL and focus on getting A's in all my other courses. PLus its only 3 units. ahh but anyways, good luck to everyone.

i'm not quite sure what you mean by if i'm "asking this question only now you're not going to do well" ? i was acutally just trying to get other perspectives, that's all.

I know he goes on a strick 90-100% A scale but he curves the midterms right? so in essence u just need to do a little better than the average unless im mistaken.

no he doesn't curve it..........or else I would've gotten an A in 20L

So how was it? The study guide he gave us was kind of overkill...

hmm i thought it was acutally pretty easy. LOL and yes the study guide well..yeah i agree with you on that one

what about you guys?

not as bad as i expected. hopefully i didn't screw up any sig figs.

does pang give -/+ grades usually? so like would a 81 or a 82 be an B or an B-?
