For anyone who has taken his chemistry classes, what is the best way to do well in the class?
Is it worth going to lectures and paying attention to the details of the equations he is deriving?

No, you're better off reading the book (he tends to go off on too many tangents). I never found his lecture helpful (I don't think he's changed since then).

I would suggest not taking him, this was the only class I did poorly in, I got a B and I study my ass off. I would highly suggest taking Lin or even Scerri.

This guy is sh$%, he doesn't know how to teach, he confuses his student, and worst of all he will leave a dent in your GPA that you spend the rest of the year trying to fix.

I have heard nothing bt horror stories so stay clear!!!

lol... since when is getting a B doing poorly? what would you consider a D?

sorry... i'm amused and on a sugar high...

Hey, grades are all relative :)

More seriously, the more important thing to look at are his old tests. If he doesn't throw out any wild curveballs, then take the class with him: just ignore the lectures and really concentrate on solving the problems. I've had professors make subjects more confusing during their lectures, so you definitely want to avoid that. Besides, he has to give out some As.

so, there's nothing wrong with going to nbone of the lectures right?

I think I read on Bruinwalk that he asked a really specific question on a final (that he mentioned in lecture and it was worth a great deal of points ).

Also, Bruinwalk had a consensus that his midterms were hard (50% average) but I looked at one and it didn't seem impossible.

I think if he derives a same equation two consecutive lectures, I won't go to the next since he just might waste the whole lecture doing it again ..

i'm taking chem 20b with baugh too. i was considering dropping but i've been looking and it doesn't look like lin or scerri are gonna teach 20b next quarter. its this other guy named felter or something like that. he has way worse ratings with baugh. might as well jst stick it out. o yea, does anyone know where we can get baugh's past midterms? thanks!

I just noticed that his answer keys have questions which he never fully solved. :)

hay boelter, study with me for baugh next week okay?

rly. ill steal some sammiches for you or something.....

i'm just worried about the specific questions

Sure let's get a room ;D (study room) or whatever works. Facebook me!
