Chem 3A midterm #2.......

what was implied`

i’m just mad at myself because i spent literally all day today (9am-6pm) studying for this in addition to periods of time over the last few days, and i just completely blanked once i opened up the test.

^ HAHA same here. =(

And then when I started getting some of it back, I saw the SOCl2 problem and blanked out on how to do it even though I literally had just studied that before going off to my exam room.

^
i know seriously.

*** for the ethane question i told myself to study ethane with zeolite and heat becomes ethene then h3p04 with water becomes ethanol… i 4got to use it.

LOL

Frechet is up to his usual tricks again.

what tricks. I think the average is gonna be 20/150.

^^^ Yeah I wouldn’t be surprised if it was around that…there are going to be tons of negative scores. That’s going to be embarrasing

the synthesis was so hard. all blanks :|

even tho i did bad, i just want to know what i got. i hope we get them back sooner this time, especially wnen they’re all gonna be graded by the end of today.

^
yea… MC shouldn’t be that hard to grade…

But the calculations they have to take in though. So they’ll probably have to go back and tally up…booo

^
man hopefully i got a 20/150. and avg is 10 with std dev of 5

The MC was f-ing ridiculous. Did he seriously expect us to finish all those questions in time? ARGH. I know I already got like half of them wrong. >.>
And why were there so many questions that involved S compounds? It’s just my luck that I didn’t have enough time to bother with chp 9. :[
I would imagine that the average would be lower because of the multiple choice (it felt like the SATs all over again).

^
yea. why :|

damn him and his copyrighting of every thing he writes.

Just wondering, what was the answer to the first problem (the rate equation for an E2 reaction)? None of the answers seemed to be correct.

rate = k[R-X][Base]

i think.

i know what you mean aureat. jb that’s the answer i was looking for, but it wasn’t there. the closest one to it was just rate=[r-x][base]

i picked whatever one said [RX][base]. there was only one of those. so i figured it had to be that one. did some answers have k in it and some not?

that’s the one i ended up picking, but yea some had k some didn’t. glad you noticed. haha jk
