Telebears is coming up and I was putting together a schedule. I have to finish most of the premed prereqs by the end of this year so I can start preparing MCAT next year (I’m a junior and will be senior in the fall, not too much time left). Because I’m taking Physics 3B in the summer, I can’t take any other hard sciences this summer, which means Chem 3B/L and Bio 1A/L in the fall…
Chem I’m not too worried, but the infamous Bio 1A/L is really intimidating, and because I’m a psychology major, I have to take Psych 101 (research and data analysis), known as one of the more difficult class in psychology (I think there will be a 15 page paper).
All in all, everything adds up to 17 units, and I’m questioning if this is doable. I’m considering putting off Chem 3BL until spring and just take Chem 3B during the fall, does this look like a better idea? Pedersen is not teaching 3BL in the fall, and the assistant professor who will be teaching it doesn’t have any ratings anywhere, so I’m assuming it’s probably her first time, and it’s hard to tell how the class will be. I would really appreciate if anyone can give some advises on this situation, thanks!!!
Chem 3B/L + Bio 1A/L are doable, especially with Marsden teaching in the Fall, but be warned that it will be A LOT of work - I would recommend taking those two (if you absolutely had to together) as your only technicals. That is, I wouldn’t recommend doing Psych 101 with it. However, you can probably manage all three with very good time management with less time for extracurriculars. As for Hammond, all I can say is that she can be strict (my friend works in her lab), so that may or may not translate to her teaching style. Chem 3BL in the spring would seem like a good idea, especially considering that it eats up more time compared to 3AL. What is your 4th class? I would stick to 13 units with that schedule alone.
Be prepared for the stress, but besides that, good luck!
@soliditous Thanks for the reply~ The 4th class is psychology of sleep, which I really want to take because it’s not offered very often (Plus I need to take at least 2 psych upper div every semester in order to graduate on time), and I don’t think this class would be very difficult or time consuming. I’ve pretty much decided on pushing 3BL to spring and I’m still considering what I should do about Psych 101… I’m probably gonna go talk to an adviser after spring break, but I have a feeling that the psych advisers would push for 101 just because they recommend taking 101 the first semester after declaring major (or as early as possible, which I didn’t do…)
