Pairing Chem 3A or MCB 32 with Bio1A in the fall?

Hello, I'm an intended Nutritional Sciences (physio track) but am considering MEB with an emphasis on Environmental and Human Health.

I've taken Anthro 3AC, Nutri Sci 10, Math16A&B, Comp Lit R1A, Chem 1A/AL, & Psych 1.

As of now, if I want to follow through with the physio track, I would need to complete R1B, Stats 2, Chem 3A/AL, Chem 3B/BL, Physics 8A, MCB 32/32L, and Bio 1A/AL.
If I were to pursue MEB, then I'd need all the above (minus Stats and MCB 32) plus two ESPM classes and Bio1B.

Keeping in mind that I'd have to declare end of summer next year, I'm in a dilemma about whether to take Chem 3A this fall or MCB 32 (which is offered only in the Fall, but there's TALK of having it offered Summer 2015 if this Summer trial pulls through). I will be taking Bio 1A for sure this fall though. If I were to take Chem 3A in the fall with Bio1A, I would take 3B in the Spring with Physics 8A, and MCB 32 in the summer (if it's offered). Should I just take 3A instead of MCB 32, seeing that it'll give me more time to decide if I really want to pursue the physio track? But at the same time, there's a chance MCB 32 might not be offered? :(

Thank you!

Fellow NST major here! If I recall correctly, you’re supposed to take Chem 3A before Bio 1A.

I know this isn’t what you were considering, but I took Chem 3A/L and MCB 32 in the fall, then Bio 1A/L and Chem 3B/L in the spring and it worked well for me. MCB 32 helps with the physio section of Bio 1A/L a lot, so I would strongly recommend taking it first.

Thank you for replying!

As of this year they’ve done away with the Chem 3A prerequisite for Bio 1A, and are only requiring Chem 1A/AL! The main reason why I’m taking Bio 1A/AL this Fall is because it’s off season and because I would like to avoid the Bio 1A/Chem 3B combination (my advisor said it was doable, but my peers have told me many times to avoid it).

Do you think that taking MCB 32 and Bio 1A concurrently would be helpful?

http://bulletin.berkeley.edu/courses/biology/</a> still says that Chemistry 3A or 112A is recommended for Biology 1A.

YOU DO NOT NEED TO TAKE CHEM 3A before Bio 1A, they go over all the organic chemistry you need in the first and second lecture, so if you don’t want to take it before, you certainly do not have to. This was a recent change this past fall.
