Anyone knows what edition book do we need fro the Fall 2008?
and Author please. :|

Check TritonLink.

Author's Cracolice, and it says "custom" in the notes ... they used to use the Zumdahl book (which sucked, IMO), but it looks like they've changed. It might be a UCSD-specific version. You can always try emailing Hoeger.

Zumdahl was how I learned college chemistry (AP in hs). :(

I really did not like the Atkins 6a-c book.

But it could be that I had a great AP Chem teacher in hs and only had one good UCSD Chem prof (Johnson).

what's wrong with the atkins book? Dx

I've been through classes using Zumdahl, Atkins, Brown/LeMay/Bursten, and Oxtoby.

Oxtoby's the most comprehensive (some might perceive this as challenging) and used for the 6honors sequence, Atkins and B/LM/B tie for a balance of informative and well-presented, and I dunno ... Zumdahl was really boring for me.

Usually the textbook doesn't matter so much if you've got a good professor (like Tina Johnson!) ... but Geisel carries copies of ALL the aforementioned textbooks, so it's never like you'll run out of resources.
