Chem 4A

The course description says "Equivalent to 1A-1B plus 15 as prerequisite for further courses in chemistry." Does that mean Chem 1A/1B (and 15, ***?) are prerequisites for 4A or for doing higher courses?

Also, what is the difficulty of this class? I've heard the labs are killer, but is that it? Did anyone else take this class as a freshman?

Oh, as an aside, just how do the labs work at Berkeley?

Chem 1A, 1B and 15 are equivalent to Chem 4A and 4B. After taking those three classes, you can take higher courses.

And I’ve heard… um… not the best… thoughts about Chem 4A… Nevertheless, as CoC students, we must go through this and shine… or get weeded…

In other words, speaking as an incoming freshman, that’s all I can say.
