It's been a while since I've taken chemistry back in high school. Anyone know of a good website or book to review from (and practice problems) before I take the placement exam?

I can only suggest perhaps buying your university’s chem prep course book. You may be able to ask other students if your university has a class of 2016 page, or group on facebook for suggestions. Otherwise you could always try to find a high school chem book.

All else fails Chemistry for dummies will probably help. I would say just take the placement without reviewing because it will show you what level you are at. I am glad I took my university’s Chem 100 (prep for our weeder) because it made me master some of the stuff I didn’t in high school plus my TA was extremely helpful. Also as I mentioned in another post at my university, even if you place say into your General Chem course students still have to take the Chem placement test again first day of class. If you don’t meet the cutoff you need to be able to show the professor you can handle the material. This was either done by prior placement results, AP Chem score, or at least a C in Chem 100.

It would suck to get into your General Chem course and do poorly because you don’t remember everything. This may cause you to have double duty trying to re learn the basics while learning more advanced Chem.

Just went in to take the exam online and passed!

Wasn’t too confident but passed with flying colors. I’m still debating whether to take to Chem 101 class (basically the intro chem for my university as you described for your university) because I still feel a little unprepared. Something I’ll have to think about over the next month!
