ChemE at Texas A&M-Gatech-Purdue

i have been accepted by these universities and wanna do chemicalE. i am a little cash strapped and dont think can afford Purdue and Gatech is a prob. Do you suggest i go 2 TExas or try 2 get 2 Gatech. Would my undergrad b very crucial for my job search or could i start at Texas and transfer 2 smwhere better for post grad. What wud u suggest
need help quick!!!
thankz

I don't think there is anything wrong with Texas Tech.

I wanna how is Texas A&M (and not Tech) compared 2 Georgia Tech and Purdue. I mean i have checked US news and stuff but kinda reputation do they have in America.
Wud it really make a difference if i went 2 Texas A&M instead of Gatech or Purdue. i wanna know if my undergrad is more imp or my post grad. I mean wht do empolyers and companies look for an undergrad from Gatech or Purdue or Texas A&M or a post grad.
Am really confused regardin this could you please clear my doubt.
Thankz a lot

Sorry I meant to say A&M. There best for ChemE b/c of petroleum. Sorry. But I wouldn't know for sure anyway.

The school you choose is not nearly as important as your performance in school. Go to Texas A&M and study hard and do well, you'll be fine.

I would think that A&M is in a good place for chemE because alot of oil companies are based in Houston, about 1 1/2 hours away. Many of my friends' parents are engineers that work for various oil companies. I've been told that the honors program at A&M is challenging, so if you got into that... I have at least one friend who could have gone to a more prestigious university but chose A&M because of alot of factors, but primarily price.

Side note about Purdue: both of my parents graduated from there, and many people are impressed about that. Because it doesn't have "Indiana" in its name, people assume it's a private school. :)

i understand the fact that lotsa oil companies are in texas and there is a good chance for employment but that wud b only if i plan 2 do Petroleum under chemE. I am not 2 sure what i wanna do now but i wud do chemE for sure. i also wanna know whether doing a co-op along wid chemE is a better option or do smthin like chemE major and nuclearE minor (Texas no 3 in US for tht). I mean a double degree or co-op program wht wud b more helpful and advisable. Or is it best 2 finish my course asap as i wud come wid credits and wud b able 2 finish in abt 3 years. Wht wud b the best solution for me as i am tight on finances and am goin 2 Texas A&M just for the finances and nthin else.

I have been admitted to McMaster and await an answer from Toronto and waterloo .wht i have heard from everyone is tht it is better 2 go 2 USA than go to canada even if the states is a little more expensive. i mean i plan 2 go to texas A&M but wht is the problem wid goin 2 a place McMaster or Toronto(if i get in!!). wht r the disadvantages of goin 2 a place in canada than goin to USA. I hope u get my question.

It is known that states like georgia, Indiana etc are supposed 2 b relatively backward wid job oppurtunities being a scarcity in these states. Firstly, is this true?? How much does the state you go 2 study in make a difference 2 ur future job propects?? Moreover, where wud i have the best chances of a job as a chemE; Texas, Indiana or georgia. how important is the state factor in job prospects??

If money is a problem I say Texas is worth it all the way. The other two are nice but not nice enough to warrant extra money being spent IMHO. Their will be plenty of oppotunities in Texas believe me.

thankz a lot and i appreciate it. I did ask a few more questions and i eagerly await resposes to those. i shall ask further questions after i get responses 2 them.
Thankz anywayz

I am currently a sophmore in chemical engineer at purdue as I can tell you a bit about it. Its a great program and has very very enthusiastic professors, esp my current one, prof beaudin. There are great job opps avaiable, cause almost 60 percent of all engineering jobs are out here in the midwest and purdue hosts the worlds largest career and job fair every year, so loads of recruters. The forney hall on chem engineering was just completed soo all facilities are top notch. West lafayette is a a small town but purdue is a great community. After saying all this, i should add that i am changing majors out of chem eng, its just not for me, its great for those who turly have a passion for it, hope this helps, cheers
