Hello,
I've recently had the pleasure of interning at a refinery. My mentor himself was not a process engineer but I made personal relationships with a few of them. They all have inspired me to major in Chemical Engineering. I was just wondering what are my odds of getting in to UCLA, UCB, UCSD and or UCI under the Chemical Engineering Major. I am a rising Senior. I have 1610 on my SAT Reasoning (Math: 560 Writing: 530 Reading: 520). I have a Weighted GPA of 4.294 and a 3.9 high school GPA. I am well involved and challenge myself and take college classes and take as many APs as my school allows. I'm worried that they would reject me because I'm not outstanding at math but I'm not bad at it. What factors would help me get in?

I think what you need to worry about is that SAT score. You need to work on getting that score up or take the ACT. Right now, you won’t make it into those UC’s with those scores. Work on retaking the test and getting all of those scores up, not just the math.

For any type of Engineering major at the UC’s, you would need at least a 1900+ on the SAT for UCI and 2100+ for UCSD/UCLA/UCB to be competitive. Your GPA is on target but you need to calculate your UC GPA, see link: <a href=“GPA Calculator for the University of California – RogerHub”>http://rogerhub.com/gpa-calculator-uc/ You might want to add UCSB/UCD to your list. UCR/UCM would be the only 2 UC’s you have would have a chance at with that SAT score.

UCSB is known for Chemical Engineering. You should add UCSB.
