Chemical Engineering- Biology and Organic Chemistry?

How much of Bio and Orgo Chem is there for a chemical engineering major? I wouldn't mind taking like one or 2 classes of each, but its not too much is it?

At Berkeley,

1 semester of Bio(the intro course) is required, and 1 semester of O-chem(upperdiv) is required.

Depends on where you go. Some places won’t require Biology, some will. I think O-Chem is required though. And not too much (if “too much” means more than two semesters).

Thanks ChemE14! Also, exactly how difficult is it to balance a Chem Eng major with a decent social life?

At penn state its 1 semester of bio, 2 semesters of organic chem…as far as social life goes, I will put it this way, its not like being a business major but if you do it right you can have fun on the weekends. Although, the weekends before tests I usually am inside studying. It all depends on your drive. Take advantage of your first 2 semesters though cause school will never be easier and you never have that much free time for the next 3 years

When I went; no bio, 2 quarters of O Chem and 1 O Chem lab…

I have no semesters of bio and 2 of organic.

Whatever college you’re going to probably has the curriculum online.

At my school (University of Texas at Austin) , ChemE’s are required 1 semester of intro bio, 2 semesters of OChem 1 and OChem2 with lab. Biochemistry is an elective if you want to take it.
