Chemical Engineering/Materials Science Graduate School

Hello,

This is my first time posting on this website, or really any website of the sort, so hopefully I put this is the correct section.

I am a Chemical Engineering undergraduate student hoping to attend a top graduate school in materials science/chemical engineering. I'm curious what type of GPA is required to be competitive at the top schools (MIT, Berkley, etc.).

My GPA is decent (3.6 on 4.0 scale) in relatively rigorous curriculum, and I have quite a bit of undergraduate research under my belt (mostly in the form developing and testing materials for electrochemical processes) - I also have experience tutoring math, chemistry, and physics and am involved in some other extra-curricular activities around my campus.

Is this enough to be competitive at top schools? Or do I need to raise my GPA more before even thinking about applying?

Thanks for any input.
