I am currently a high school student and I have always been interested in science and math. Since I excelled in these subjects at a young age, I was guided by many teachers and adults to pursue a field in engineering. In high school, I made sure to take challenging math and science courses as well as engineering courses. I didn’t have an idea of what particular engineering field to go into, however I found I have an interest in chemistry after taking the class this year. I thought to myself “Ok good, Chemical Engineering sounds promising”. Yet, after talking to others on my interest with chemistry, they tell me that I should go into pharmacy. I’m being drawn to both fields and don’t know which to go into. I also don’t know much about the college paths for these careers or the careers themselves.What are some pros and cons of both fields? This question came to mind as I’m applying for colleges soon and I don’t know whether to apply to schools based on their engineering programs versus their pharmacy programs.
Normally it’s easier to start in engineering than to switch into engineering.
So you could see how you like it.
At my D’s school I think as a freshman in engineering you take Calc, physics, chem, an elective and an engineering programming class.
So some of these classes might count for pharmacy prerequisites if you decide to switch.
