if you're a moron and/or a big baby you will not be good at it. My roommate was probably the dumbest kid at U of I and he copied labs, had everybody on the floor help him with e-homework, and would only study for like 4 hours the night before tests cause he doesn't realize he's in college. He ended up with a D+ and they rounded it up to a C-, which ****ed me off. Just put in some effort.

So basically I'll be fine if I just put in some effort everyday, do all the homework/labs, and attend all the lectures? And if this roomate of yours studied everyday, would he have not had to study 4 hrs the night before the exam?

i didn't do any hw probs and would study only the night before the exam and get an A+. but then again i took the AP in high school. depending on your teacher the workload may vary. but if you do the homework problems and do fine on the quizzes i would say you're ready for the tests.

if my roommate studied every day, he should still study the night before the exam, because thats common sense.

I didn't take chem 102 (only 101), and this last semester before just about every exam in classes like econ 103, aviation, and env bio, I studied for 8 hours a day for the 3 days before the exam (eat dinner, then hit Grainger from 6pm till 2am). That's in addition to doing all the reading on time and doing the homework when I was supposed to. That's what I meant by this isn't high school.

oh my.... which prof is good for chem 102?

Not sure who's going to be teaching it, but I had Hummel and I thought he was pretty good. He really likes blowing up hydrogen. I had Yerkes for 104 and I didn't care for her too much.

Blowing up hydrogen is my cup of tea. Was that the only thing he blew up?

I heard he also blew off his hand. maybe that was a diff prof.

Yeah, he claims he broke his hand once while doing a demonstration in lecture.

broke it, my ass. he blew the damn thing off.

I am thinking about doing chem 102, 103, physics 212, math 415, and advertising 300... It won't be too tough, would it?

I've heard the lab for chem is very time consuming, so I am not sure if I should do linear algebra this semester...

Any suggestions?

Chem labs aren't bad at all. Depends a lot on your TA. Some of them are picky, some aren't. But even if you have a tough one it's not bad. It's only every other week, so you have plenty of time to do the pre-lab. The labs are tedious more than anything, but you'll still finish most of them in 2 hours or under. There are only 6 in the semester. Then you have to do a pre and post lab quiz online with unlimited tries. The written pre-labs usually take an hour usually or two hours if you're trying to be thorough. I had a picky TA for 103 and it still wasn't hard. For 105 I had a really easy TA and I could write basically anything down and she would only mark a point or two off.
Physics 212 I've heard is hard. Advertising 300 I think wouldn't be too bad. No idea what Math 415 is.
