Chemistry Exams

I am comparing the difficulty of Chemistry Courses at several universities. Can anyone post old exams from the following courses:

Chem 207
Chem 215
Chem 251

Thanks.

251 is a lab.

It's a lab that has exams though (2 practicals + written prelim).

Chem 207 exams are pretty difficult, just had one last week.

I hear that Chem 215 are as well.

the 207 exam was extremely difficult, but its curved quite a bit i hear...or at least i hope...

the 207 prelim thoroughly owned me.

I was at my friend's place in Balch Thursday night and heard quite a few complaints about the 207 prelim...looks like the weeding out process has already begun.

It was 35 years ago, and I still remember how hard the first 207 prelim was. And, I ended up majoring in chemistry.

Ugh. Thanks for an ugly memory.

(Walks away muttering under is breath...)

Alumni Troll...

Can you post the 207 exam?

chemistry isn't very difficult.

at least when compared to physics which can be ridiculous.

go take the 207 prelim

no, I don't have the exam...and if I did I wouldn't be able to look at all the red pen marks for long enough to attempt to post it ;)

much of my hall was ready to have a group gorge jump after the chem 207 prelim. The best part of chem though, is the review section: Chem 007.....how pimp is that!!!??!

As was I, but then I went to the lunch truck and all was well again...after screaming, "STOP TALKING ABOUT FREAKIN' CHEMISTRY" in a crowd of 50 people...and simultaneously laughing and tearing after the exam, not sure whether it was funny or tragic.

Prof Chirik gives very difficult tests but at the end it does not really matter since the class is curved.

Seriously, I don't know why everyone complains when they "fail" a test. You aren't really going to fail it, and it ends up alright in the end. I'm not in 207 but 211, and the test wasn't that bad, the average was a 70 and the standard deviation was a 13, meaning if you got a 70 that would be either a B-/B, and if you got one standard above that would be around an A-/A. So as long as you got a 70 which for every freshman at Cornell is something they rarely if ever did in high school you were ok. I got right around 1 standard deviation, and although that isn't a perfect score it put me in the A- range, and that was fine. And even if I didn't get that high and had gotten a 70, that still would have been a B, and that isn't that bad also. It's all relative, wait until you see the curved score, and then complain if you feel you need to do so, but odds are you will probably be alright with it.

Well judging from that exam, I doubt that mean will even be a 70...probably more like a 50 or so. I heard it was around 55 last year, and this exam was far more difficult than last year's. I'm not worried, I just hope the curve is nice and forgiving.

The lower the mean the better it is! Last year the mean for first exam was 112 out of 175 with standard deviation of 28. I don't think this years exam will have any different stats.
