I had to take Orgo 2. Liked it much better than Orgo 1!
@wis75 Engineering doesn’t have as much leeway in terms of requirements as some majors do. I looked at Virginia Tech for chemical engineering and you need general, orgo, and physical chemistry , as well ad 135 credits to graduate. What are these “average” engineering programs that you think have significantly different requirements?
The amount of chemestry you need depends on your major, obviously. Chemecial and mechanical engineering arent going to require the same thing. ABET also sets minimums, colleges are free to exceed those.
Agree. Chemical engineering graduates obviously have the most chemistry requirements!
Course content varies with schools. Not all courses in any subject cover the same amount of material. AP courses do not cover the same material as is covered in some college’s courses for example. A student may learn the material in a course and deservedly get an A but may not have been required to know as much as in a different college. There is a reason colleges have rankings. All schools may cover the minimums required for competency but some go beyond them. Think good, better, best- all are adequate but some offer more. A problem may arise if material not covered in a course is expected to be known by the other school. Of course, if a more rigorous college’s version of the course is taken then one is fine for the subsequent courses taken.
