Chemistry grades and no ap exam

I never took honors chemistry I tested straight into ap chemistry and took it as a sophomore first semester I got a b minus and second semester I got a b plus these are definitely not good grades and I was too worried to take the ap exam it is also too late for me to take trhe chemistry subject exam for early decision so how would this affect my chances into schools like upenn because I’m applying early to Wharton I have other redeeming aspects of my application but I don’t want to know how that’ll balance out my app I want to know how this chemistry thing specifically will affect my admission what will the admissions people think thank youuuu and please respond

What’s your overall GPA? If every other grade is an A, for example, your cumulative GPA would still be very high and not worth stressing about. Relax and let the chips fall where they may; you can’t change your grades now.

@bodangles My weighted gpa is a 4.3 and my unweighted is a 3.8 you’re right about the not stressing but can’t really help it at this point with application deadlines looming my sophomore year in general was a big academic dip with mainly bs which is why I’m concerned but I got straight As sophomore year and junior year except for two Bs with very difficult ap and ib class load I’ve just heard colleges really look for ap chemistry and now I’m worried because I don’t have the exam nor good grades for it and never took honors chemistry

A 3.8 is still very good. You don’t have to take the chem subject test if you don’t feel you’d do well on it; the requirements for Wharton are Math 2 and whichever other one(s) you want.

@bodangles would the fact that I never took calc ab affect my chances at Wharton I took a brief survey of calculus instead got an a minus first semester and a b flat second semester

If Calc AB was an option and you took a lower-level class instead, that will not look impressive to colleges. But seriously, you took what you took and there is no way to change it now. Apply with the mindset that you’re playing a lottery. Because you are – the acceptance rate is so minuscule that statistically, almost no one gets in. Don’t expect a miracle, and have safeties and matches. That’s all you can do. Everything affects your chances in some way, but the only absolute method of finding out how is to apply and see how it goes.

I don’t know why you’d focus on the chem. Seems that Calc will be far more important for you if your goal is a business or econ major.

@lostaccount would’ve calc I took in high school affect if I got in tho and I’m just wondering because my chem isn’t as good as it should be
