Well i was told that chemistry honors was hard and i'm wondering is it? because science isn't hard for me at all but i was told you need good math skills and i'm horrible at math.

You don’t have to be a calculus student for chemistry; it’s just basic math with a few twists and turns.

I’m doing Chemistry Honors :)

For us, its a 10th grade course (I don’t know what grade you’re in). We took Physics in 9th grade for some reason o.O

I’m good at math… I just don’t like it that much. You should try it You can probably get help from the teacher if you need it.

Nah. Most of the math is just stoichiometry AKA dimensional analysis AKA how to get from one unit (or ratio) to another. If anything else, it would just be plug into the formula and etc.

Well it’s easy for some people, and hard for others. It’s not purely math like physics. The best way i can describe it is algebra. Sometimes problems involve numbers. Other times it involves “variables” in equations, which are actually the compounds and molecules.

After taking a ridiculously difficult honors geometry course, I found chemistry just the kind of inspiration to try better at math. Really, chemistry math is super fun, pertinent, and feels useful right in the moment.

also it depends on your school. honors classes do not have standardized curriculums the way ap’s do

I took Chemistry honors two years ago and AP Chemistry last year and didn’t have any problem with the math. A lot of the stuff you just plug in stuff to an equation and it’s not very hard. I found the non-math stuff a lot harder but err I still made all A’s in chemistry honors and AP chemistry.

I’m taking Chem honors, physics honors, and AP Biology next year lol.

Well…I remember Honors Chemistry. I HATED it. Well mainly because I was hoping we would do many labs and cool experiments…but we only did like a few of which most of them were lame. I also am not good at math, and this course was a struggle for me. I had to come in many times before and after school for help. My teacher was also not so great, he got really mad when I asked questions “During Class.” If you are quick at getting how to do things you might want to try but for me this class was one of my hardest.

In honors chemistry we never did any real labs either. We never used the bunsen burners and most of our labs would involve M&M’s or seeds or something. In AP Chemistry every single one of our labs had multiple chemicals and bunsen burners at least…

nah honors chem isnt hard. a lot of people complain about it but its not too bad…

im even taking AP Chem next year because i like it
