Chemistry or Biology!

Ok so next year I have a choice between AP Chemistry or AP Biology (I don't want to kill myself with both). So, I'm wondering which one you guys think is more interesting, and which would be the better selection. I guess difficulty is not a factor here since I've heard both were very hard, but in your opinion which is better?

P.S. I'm very good at math, but also love the human body and exploring the biology world too.

i think both are very interesting.

chem takes the prize though, biology has units like ecology, etc. that are just BORING.

I'm taking both actually, and it's not too tough. Overall, I'd say go with chemistry. Biology is much more based on memorization, and you seem more like the logical/analytical person that chemistry would favor. However, if you're unsure, ask people who have taken the class at your school and see who is the better teacher.

If you're a junior I'd say go with Biology first, I heard it's goes slower than chemistry, and the AP test is definitely easier. Then take Chemistry in your senior year once you know what AP classes are like.

If you're a senior, then just take chemistry. It's much more useful in college if you know chemistry (ok, for science type majors) because as someone said biology is just memorization which you can do in a lecture with 100 other people, but AP chemistry is more understanding and synthesizing type of class so it's good to have the one-on-one attention which you get in high school.

take both classes

Go with Chemistry. It's fundamental, and will provide a basis for biology in college (if you're still interested).

here's what oasis has to say on the topic in one of the stickied threads

"Biology - Bio, IMO, should be the only AP science that should be self-studied. Biology is highly straightforward, as most of it require the memorization and assimilation of concepts. In fact, many people report scoring 5s on Biology just through reading through a prep book. Although I do not advise this route, Bio is the most easily managable science AP and should be considered, if taking AP Bio is not an option at school."

on the other hand, it's definitely true that chemistry will play a role in biology if you plan to eventually take them both

Chemistry. It's more useful and a very fun class. Plus it helps you in AP Bio.

Add to the previous posts, chemistry wins.

Chem makes you a better problem solver :D

I find biology much more interesting than chemistry, but I guess the other posters have a point. I took AP Bio junior year and am taking AP Chem this year. I know many people who have done both at once and done just fine, but that would depend not only on you but on your specific classes.

Physics :P
