Chemistry or Electrical Engineering? Course?

So I'm planning on applying for transfer from a CCC to a UC for Fall 2013 and I have a slot open in my schedule for the Spring of 2013.

As a Computer science and engineering major, should I take Chemistry or an Electrical Engineering class?

I have no engineering classes, but I have the calculus series, differential equations, linear algebra, and calc based physics series done, along with other humanity requirements.

I plan to apply to UCB, UCLA, UCI, and UCD. EECS for Berkeley, computer science and engineering for all else.

I'm thinking chemistry, but then I feel like I'll lose an edge on the engineering side. The electrical engineering class does not transfer to UCB, but its recommended to take an EE class for EECS.

So which should I take??

For Berkeley specifically…

EECS at Berkeley requires at least 11 units of science, including Physics 7A and 7B. The third science course can be any of Physics 7C, Chemistry 1A, 1B, 3A, or 3B, Biology 1A or 1B, Astronomy 7A or 7B, Molecular and Cell Biology 32, or any upper-division course in Astronomy, Biology, Chemistry, Earth and Planetary Science, Integrative Biology, Molecular and Cell Biology, Physics or Plant and Microbial Biology. If you have Physics 7A, 7B, and 7C done, then you need no more science courses (although if your science + math units will add up to less than 30 after you complete CS 70, you would need more science or math).

See [Undergraduate Notes | EECS at UC Berkeley](Information for Current Undergraduate Students | EECS at UC Berkeley) .

Of the two lower division EE courses required, EE 40 is a prerequisite for CS hardware courses (150 and 152), while EE 20N is not a prerequisite for any CS course.

If you are considering L&S CS as well, note that it does not require EE 20N, allows EE 42 instead of EE 40, and requires science only for breadth (one physical and one biological science course for either L&S breadth or IGETC).

Of course, other UCs will have different requirements. UCLA and UCD appear to require chemistry for their CSE majors.

Yes, but the EE course will not transfer, and I’ll have the equivalent of physics 7C.

At that point, which looks better on transcript?
