I am currently an undergrad at NCSU and I have to pick my major soon. Anyone have any experience and/or advice for a degree in meteorology or polymer and color chemistry? These are the two majors that I am currently considering. I enjoy chemistry and have an interest in meteorology. I really want to graduate here and then possibly enroll in an ATC program to become an air traffic controller, but in the mean time I need a degree and a job. I have been hesitate to pick meteorology because according to my research there isn't many jobs in the field for only BS holders and the pay is poor. Is this true? I do not want to go to grad school. My concern with the polymer and color chemistry major is that I would only be able to work as a lab tech with my BS degree. I want a science degree that would also give me the option of working overseas. Anyone have any information or experience regarding these careers?

Polymer chemistry might be a good option. There are still a few decent jobs for packaging and polymer development, not sure what the competition is like though (there aren’t a ton of these jobs). Meteorology no. Stossel had a my college degree was worthless special a while back and one of the degrees was meteorology. Honestly, though, I think all the sciences are bad options for Americans.
