My life long dream has been to attend Georgetown University. I just finished my sophomore year in high school. For the past two years, I have gotten all A's and high B's (88-89)(Only in one class) in all honors classes. I am taking one AP class next year, and planning on 3-4 my senior year. Today, the SAT Subject Test scores came back, and I found out I got a 630 on the Chemistry subject test. I am distressed because I know that it is not really up to Georgetown standards, but will it hurt my chances severely? I have yet to take the SAT's and I am planning on taking 2 to 3 more subject tests.

Thanks

don’t freak out. you have all of junior and senior year to prove yourself. i understand that georgetown is a competitive school. if it’s still possible, i would consider signing up for at least 2-3-4 APS for your junior year, and then more for your senior year. You have to attain a good class rank.

Don’t worry about chem. Have you even taken AP Chem? The SAT II chem is college level material, and I received a 730 only after I took AP Chem as a junior this past year. I could’ve done better…oh well.

Just really focus and hone your interests your junior year. Pick one or 2 really strong ECs and develop them. Stand out from the crowd…I know it’s easier said than done.

lutefa - Did you take AP chemistry or just one year of chemistry? From what I know, it is hard to do well in SAT II with a single year of chemistry. If you took only one year, you may just not know enough.
