Chemistry SAT Subject Test with minimal Chemistry knowledge

Hi, everyone. All of the colleges I’m interested in require laboratory science classes for admission, but the science classes I’m taking don’t have lab components because my school doesn’t offer them. However, most schools allow students to take SAT Subject Tests with a score of at least a 540 and AP Exams with a score of at least a 3 in the place of laboratory science courses.

So this year, I’m taking a regular chemistry course and I need to take the SAT Subject Test for it next fall. Is a score of at least 700 attainable for me? I’m a straight-A student and I’m prepared to study as much as possible over the summer. What I’d like to know is how much prep time you might suggest, as well as what the best prep books are? The main reason I’m concerned is because I’m worried my regular chemistry course won’t cover some of the main components of the test. But anyhow, thanks!

Regular Chemistry will not cover anything on the SAT subject test. I believe the subject test has more content than the AP course.

iirc the subject test covers roughly the same amount of material as the AP exam, although the questions in the subject test are far easier. It you’re doing well in your chem course, it’s easy enough to pick up a review book for the subject test, go through that and take the exam.
