I am currently in a Regents Chemistry class and I was wondering if I should take the SAT 2 in Chemistry in June. My average is about 95, and I am not sure if my school will offer AP Chemistry next year( Sometimes it is canceld since student dont sign up), so should I take it in June. Anyone who did the same, will doing good in class and studying the Barrons SAT II Book, be good to get a decent score on the SAT Chemistry subject test?
Thanks:)

Does anybody have any opinions?

In my class people who were in honors got scores at both ends. Me and 2 other people got 800's while some people got a 560.
Also, if you get the concepts in the Regents Level REALLY WELL and if you do some studying and questining with your teacher you should get 650+
Regents doesn't cover a lot of the topics that is in the SATII

See how other people in your school have done...

I dont know about your school, but mine the difference between regents and honors is using the reference tables. You know how you can basically rely on the reference tables for a lot of information? (think electron structure, electronegativity, etc)...the SAT II just has the elements and atomic numbers!

Anybody else have an opinion? Thanks,

I took SAT 2 Chem (May 06) before Regents (June 06). For me, I spent all my lunch periods with my chemistry teacher all the new concepts included in the SAT II. I am pleased with result (720), but disappointed that I got three MC wrong on Regents. For the book, I used PR mainly, and Kaplan for some information that is not well explained in PR. If you studied SAT 2 Chem, and then took Regents, Regents will be a lot easier; of course, it should be the other way around.

It also depends on luck; if you get unfamiliar topic on the I,II,III choices questions and T/F/CE questions, then score will suffer a lot.

Yes. Iam going to take AP chemistry next year, so I will wait till next year to take the SAT Chemistry Subject test.
