Is it a good idea to go to these receptions? I was invited to two, but truthfully, I am not sure if Chicago is my top choice. I also anticipate that I will be pretty busy around those days, and they are rather late at night.

Is there any benefit to going? Also, what is the dress code / attire?

I think my son found it reassuring to meet some of the other accepted students and have a chance to have conversations with them. There were some there that did not have UChicago at the top of their list and were considering other choices. It gave the kids a chance to talk with peers about their take on their different choices available. It also gave parents a chance to talk with each other ;>

^Semi-formal would be good. Went to one today, thought it was great (bartender for the parents, caterers bringing around finger foods, tons of free stuff).

Yep! I went to the LA one and it was really fun! Everyone seemed genuinely interested in what each other had to say. It reaffirmed my love for Chicago! You should definitely attend if you get the chance.
