I live quite close to this neighborhood and my grandparents actually live in Roseland. It's really sad how children and teens are killed for no reason whatsoever.

Yes I had a hard time sitting through it at first, and my mom refused to watch it. It’s all over the news here. There are many killings and deaths of children in Chicago, but this is probably one of the most savage that has been reported in a while. It’s sickening

Wow, I couldn’t watch the video, but they just killed him? They didn’t have a reason or purpose(not that any would be acceptable) aside from because they could? That’s terrible:/ R.I.P. all of those who have experienced something similar. It’s a very humbling realization that these events occur daily within our area.

Jealous? I was shocked by the size of the pieces of wood those kids had, they were much longer than 12", I’m guessing.
They caused a great deal or soreness for the victim also.

Lol, I have a hard time watching people being beaten to death:/ What annoys me is how they got the footage. If there was a camara man there, why didn’t they do anything?:(

The news report just ran on Fox. Many people off-camera were seeking help and calling police.

And the boy killed was not gang affiliated at all. He was coming home from school and got caught in the middle of a brawl between two rival gangs. He was simply an innocent bystander in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Seconded. If you really are such a good Samaritan that you would risk your life so trivially, you probably wouldn’t be around to post on HSL, wartsandall.

I obviously wouldn’t do anything if it resulted in both of our deaths, what would be the point of that? However, I would definitely try to do what I could so I wouldn’t be liable to say, hey! I filmed that murder! I just stood there and filmed it without doing anything. I just watched someone die. At least I could say I did what I could. After all, there is an advantage in numbers. If there truly were several people calling and standing around, perhaps they would help. Personally I would feel terrible if I just sat there when I could have been that innocent person being killed. I know if some person was filming my death without doing anything, I wouldn’t be too appeased with that situation.

FYI, the person filming is actually being praised by the police. It has allowed them to identify many of the assailants. I also doubt you would do all the things you say you would in the face of a vicious melee like this. This wasn’t some suburban school scuffle.

Hmm…well I suppose I should suck it up and watch the video before formulating my opinion. However, seeing as how you have no idea who I am irl, I don’t believe that is a fair assumption. I’m not stupid, I obviously wouldn’t get involved in something that would result in both of our deaths. However, if the opportunity arose in which I could have saved both of our lives, I would take it, regardless of its danger. I suppose it’s more of my beliefs than anything. I personally would have a lot of guilt if I didn’t do something. I would rather die saving or attempting to save someone’s life, than to solely serve as a witness. Then again, in this particular situation, you have a good point, this person was able to attribute to some people’s identification. Perhaps my explanation and proposed action is relevant to a different type of situation.
