Chicago Waitlist call starts in a week!

…why would you stop losing hope? you DO know they dont notify everyone at the same time?

hahaha thanks for that both of you.

okay im starting to think the additional stuff (letters, rec) etc I sent will have a minimal impact on their decision - I was asking ppl who got accepted already and I think adcoms are looking mainly at our backgrounds and stuff to add to the incoming class’ diversity. Enthusiasm, interest, good grades and our letters seem to be a bonus or an afterthought ryt now. But yeah Im not gna lose hope and I will seize fate by the throat.

And most people who have gotten in already seem to have been notified BEFORE May 1. When I emailed uchicago after May 1 they told me they werent sure if they were gna use the waitlist yet!!! yikes

I want to be a UChic maroon!

^ No, you want to be a blue devil

buddha, what kind of backgrounds have been acceptedthus far?

Rare nationalities, political families, music/ sport talent, unique stuff

How do you know this?

Well a combination from asking ppl and ppl telling me i think chicago has accepted only a few people so far though so maybe, just maybe we still have a chance

Chicago transfer decisions are out today. This means that now the admissions office will concentrate fully on waitlist students!

Damn ayt ayt bring it

LOL happybudda is hilarious! Anyway, it seems as though not many people have been accepted after May 4th, am I right? Has anyone been contacted after this date. Please say so thanks :)

I think the general consensus so far is that everybody that’s gotten off the waitlist was notified before May 4th. That’s probably the first wave of students, the ones that were exceptional in their own right. They’re probably reviewing who they’ll admit for the second wave this week (and continue to do so until next week), which is why no one has been notified since May 4th. The bottom line: don’t keep continuously your phone until at least next week.

Well in the waitlist acceptance thread the 2 admits got in like MidApril (good lord thats when I sent my supplementary letter and stuff) and Ive heard of like 2 admits outside CC who were also notified before May 1. One of my friends who claims hes spoken to a admissions office guy tells me that yield should be known next week and therefore waitlist admit availability. He also mentioned that apps were split into different piles of different criteria, one being quality of essay/letter. But really all this is speculation, and the lack of concrete evidence intensifies the mystery that surrounds our results. Zounds! Post and help speculate using your email responses from chicago adcoms, other connections/rumors

I believe Chicago’s waitlist spots are full now. I’ve heard from my friend who works at Chicago’s admissions office. All students will be nonetheless notified. It was good to have some hope for Chicago for a while!

How many people were accepted?

^ sensation…

i highly doubt they’d let all waitlist students go. typically some people decide to take a gap year, decide to go to another school in which they were on the waitlist on, etc. and there’s always the summer “melt” that happens in which people are unable to go for the aforementioned reasons + many others. my guess is some students will be accepted, however, VERY few; as someone heard in another thread officially from his/her guidance counselor.

and if you have a friend that works in admissions, they can’t help you get off the waitlist or something? eh eh nudge nudge wink wink jk haha

The guy who said very few i think was referring to a chicago regional counselor (adcom)?
I just find it kinda annoying that the adcoms keep giving us false hope - like saying that they expect to admit, or they will admit a few students when (according to the things posted on CC) most, if not all waitlist admits have already been sent out before May 1 lol. Ah well, might wait a little more for a miracle.

buddha, i think you should call tomorrow and find out if it’s true that all the waitlist spots are officially filled : D
