Chicago Waitlist call starts in a week!

^why are they waiting till june?
this is kind of ****ing me off…they know they’re officially not going to be accepting anyone…why are they waiting? i guess it’s probably 'cuz they’re busy but i mean…this totally sucks. chicago is my dream school and the dream school of many others and they’re dangling this false hope in front of us (or i mean, ones that dont go on collegeconfidential) all the way until june

Well, to be really technical, there is still chance of getting accepted as waitlists. Few students may remove themselves from Chicago as they get accepted to other waitlist positions, so Chicago may need to fill 1~2 spots that will be empty. But hey, now we are really talking about probabilities of us winning a lottery.

Anyway, that’s why Chicago’s still waiting until June.

Roboticsfre4k i agree

does anyone know how many waitlisted ppl were admitted after May 1? I ve heard of none

lol why is my counselor acknowledging that the stuff i sent via snail mail has been added to my file just now… i guess false hope is better than no hope?

I don’t think pulling from the waitlist. My admissions counselor just emailed and asked for a phone interview, so unless he’s stringing me along just for malicious reasons, you’re probably wrong.

Hope!!!

Perhaps he might offer something like a GT?

What’s a GT?

Also, why can’t you post less than 10 characters? :]

I think GT= Guaranteed Transfer

I don’t know if what he’s saying is true, but if it is, then it is truly a unique case. As I repeat, the Class of 2014 is sealed.

well yeah i guess a GT would be unique - PSAC said it never happened in the past

I dunno about any guarantee. I never got an interview (though I requested one) so this may just be making up for that. Sensation, how do you know admissions are finished?

No. It is not sealed. There will inevitably be people from the wait list who get in, less than five to ten but a few. Statistically speaking, that’s close to 0 percent for many, but not quite impossible. My admissions rep says they might still admit a few during the summer meltdown, but that at the moment, things are going strong (yield-wise) and that chances are not too high, but they’re there.

^
Of course, anything can happen in summer meltdown. Perhaps more than expected Chicago accepted applicants will remove their apps. However, I say that the admission is ‘sealed’ because:

 1. High yield rate will cover the summer meltdown.
 2. Chicago does not expect much meltdown anyways, since all of its peer schools already have saturated classes. (UPenn, Columbia, Northwestern etc.)

they tell all of us by early June though right

^ yes…at least that’s what they told me.

I have it on pretty good account that admissions are not sealed because…
THEY JUST OFFERED ME A SPOT!!! -dies of happiness-

They are still admitting, so DON’T LOSE HOPE.

They are still admitting? how often did u contact ur counselor and in what way? how did u express interest omg congrats

also, did they know you were planning to take a gap year?

So I emailed my regional AdDir a couple of days after I got my waitlist notification, and he told me to email him about a month later, I guess when they found out if they had room for waitlistees. My first email was very eager, demonstrating how much I really, REALLY wanted this, and my second just reaffirmed it.

I don’t think they knew I was planning on taking a gap year, but when I got the call, the AdDir didn’t seem so surprised.

I think as long as you show you’re still interested, that’s all they want to hear.

lol ive sent emails like once a week, and perhaps sending more will annoy them

hey buddha, which college will you attend if you don’t get accepted to Chicago?
