Chicago Waitlist call starts in a week!

^haha trust me! i’m anything BUT nonchalant. uchicago is my absolute dream school. but i understand why i got waitlisted- my low gpa ( i mean i didnt get Ds or Fs or anything-but it 's pretty low for a school like chicago and im not over exaggerating-) so im at least grateful that they didn’t have it in them to outright reject me hehe.

i am angry, but at the fact that they’re waiting so godamn long to tell us when they KNOW that they’re not taking very many people off the waitlist. seriously, what the hell?!
i know they’re busy, but why must they prolong our agony! ARGH

ok im not mad b/c i was accepted. but i understand your pain. i just want you to know yellowstar that just b/c you are waitlisted doesn’t mean that the people accepted, as you said, were unworthy of it. there must be a reason.

If i dont get a response soon im going to explode.

Hey, we’re all rejected, I’m just hoping that they don’t string us along any more. The worst thing would be if they asked us to stay on through the summer.

happybuddha try not to hurt anybody while you explode! haha!

wsc198- i know that all the people at chicago are awesome- that is my main reason i want to go there, the people!!! seriously!! but i kinda hurts because i thought i did everything right and more ugh…

well my home phone is currently not working right now because we are changing our phone company so our phone is disconnected til the second week of june

cant they just send out a mass rejection email?

Hey, if anyone is in New York City, Long Island, or Westchester County, the adrep is out of his office until the third, so take a break from panicking for a couple of days.

Hold on, everyone! It’s just a little longer.

Wow, it’s surprising to see that people are still clinging onto their waitlist even though I said few weeks ago that waitlist is all done…

^ yeah, but everyone’s hope was (slightly) revived based on a couple of other people who were taken off the waitlist.

obviously it looks like they’re not going to take off anymore people, but i’d just like some final closure.

I’d take what anyone who is not even going to UChicago says as a grain of salt.

Or maybe you should have read my earlier posts on this thread indicating where I got the information, genius.

Still clinging on tight. It’s nice still having this hope, and yet incredibly devastating.

yeah they might accept at least a few more, maybe some will get accepted during the mass rejection email period

it sux tho that uchicago adcoms take so long to reply to emails, if at all, and a lot of them are out of the office

they told me today that they are not yet sure if theyre going to the waitlist??? argh

but… they already did…

*** …that’s still their excuse? lmao

Oh really? Want me to walk to the admissions office right now and ask a counselor directly?

Oops, I already did today. It turned out that they haven’t officially started reviewing the waitlist. They will start doing so sometimes next week. The lesson: please analyze online rumors critically. Phone your admissions counselors yourself, or ask your high school officials to call. Please don’t believe in blatantly false online rumors.

But they’ve already taken people OFF the waiting list. How could they possibly have not started reviewing it already? Besides, the “official” date to start reviewing the wait list was May 4th, so… =P.
I just don’t want any more false hope being spread around here.

agreed lyc0r1s

DC: did you mention to them that several people online have claimed to get off the waitlist already?

and i find it extremely bizarre that since most colleges typically review the waitlist slightly after the official reply date to colleges they would start from beginning to -mid june…

and if they WILL start reviewing next week, they still probably wont accept many people considering the yield was pretty high (39 %) . i was beginning to accept the idea of not getting off of the waitlist…and i dont want to bring my hopes up again only to be disappointed

Divine Comedy, I’m so sorry that you classify me as an “online rumor.”

OH WAIT, I RECEIVED AN EMAIL TODAY THAT THE CLASS OF 2014 IS FULL.

coincidence?

The lesson: Be aware of people warning about “online rumors.” They may be the rumors themselves.

seriously sensation!?!?

ahh i haven’t received an e-mail yet. guess i should be expecting one soon!
