Hello, I am very interested in the Chico nursing major but I am a little confused about it. Do you get into Chico, take normal classes, then apply for the nursing program after your first two years? Or do you apply for the nursing program at the same time as applying for Chico? Please someone clear this up for me!
Also, is the Chico nursing program difficult to get into and is it a good program? Thank you!

They say this on the website: “We recommend that you have a back-up plan (other school or major), in case you are not admitted to Chico’s nursing program. Only 1 of every 5-6 applicants is currently being admitted.”

BTW the page at Chico is pretty confusing. My guess after looking thru it is that you get accepted to Chico for pre-nursing, follow the suggested schedule at http://em.csuchico.edu/aap/map/FourYearPlan.aspx?AcademicYear=2009-11&Major=NURSNRSGBS and after 1 year you are eligible to apply for admission to the nursing program while you complete the rest of the admission requirements.

One thing to be aware of is that they admit students based on a point system. Most of the points are earned by doing well on their admission exam, but 9 points (about 20% of the total score) can be earned thru medical-related job experience and by becoming fluent in a foreign language. See http://www.csuchico.edu/nurs/documents/ApplicationProcedures.Rev.July2010.pdf Knowing this now will give you time to earn those points, and may well make the difference between admit and reject.

There is a contact number on the page at [Pre-Nursing Advising - School of Nursing](http://www.csuchico.edu/nurs/prospective/advising.shtml) I suggest you give the pre-nursing advisor a call to clarify the admission policy (don’t point out how bad they present the info, though!)

Thank you so much! That is very helpful.
