Chin up, chest out...

Check it out fellow Wolverines. Michigan's Hail to the Victors is voted best Fight Song...but a LSU Tiger fan no less!

In short, it is great to be a Michigan Wolverine!

Penn State gets to be biggest for a few years, I am afraid.

Did PSU enlarge their stadium again? Last I checked, Michigan's stadium had a capacity of 107,500 and PSU had a capacity of 107,300.

The 2008 football team doesn't look promising though.. And yes Penn State gets to be the biggest for a few years due to some seating adjustments (disability access) and renovation.

Penn State having the largest stadium. Check.

As Proud Wolverine says, it's not that that PSU enlarged. It's that Michigan lost some seats. While the renovation is going on, the agreement they reached regarding disabled seating is going to lower our total.

ProudWolverine, Michigan does not rebuild, it reloads. At the very worst, we are going 9-4 this season, although 10-3 is far more likely. This defense is going to be special. I predict an average of fewer than 10 PPG with no team scoring more than 20 points against us. What determines the level of success is the ability of our OL and RBs to step up. If that happens, we're in business. However, I doubt the office will be effective this year.

Ok, so PSU has a slight advantage in seating capacity for the next couple of years. We will regain our spot at the top very shortly.

Alexandre, how can you be so optimistic? Look at our OL and quarterbacks, they've got the talents but they're young & inexperienced. I think 6-6 or 7-5 will be impressive enough for RR. In a couple of years our team will be a championship contender though.

ProudWolverine, there are several reasons why I expect a decent season.

1) Like I said, at Michigan, the talent is always there. We do not rebuild, we reload. Coach Rod will have a great deal to work with.

2) Our Defense is going to be very different this year. Traditionally, Michigan's defense has been tentative and reactive to avoid giving up the "big play". Unfortunately, such a system does not work well against modern, spread offenses. Opposing teams, particularly Ohio State, have been exploiting that weakness for years. With Rodriguez, our defense will be prepared to take on spread offenses. Afterall, who better to teach a defense how to understand the spread better than Rodriguez, arguably the father of the spread offense? And that's just the philosophical aspect of the game. In terms of personnel, Michigan Defense is going to be a good deal more experienced. Like I said above, this Defense is going to be special, allowing less than 10 PPG.

3) One of the biggest weaknesses under Carr was strength and conditioning. Not so with the new Strength Coach, Barwis. The man is a FREAK! Our teams are going to be stronger and able to outlast other teams in the future.

I agree that Michigan is going to have an average seasons, but we aren't going to have a bad season. 9-4 is the worst I expect. We will know more come September I suppose. Only 6 weeks to kickoff baby!

"The Victors" (isn't it "The Victors" and not "Hail to the Victors"?) is my guilty pleasure. I never even learned my own high school's fight song. I'll have to buckle down at Penn...

Yes, the Michigan fight song is officially titled "The Victors".

j89
i was wondering if you think i should retake the act or not?
i really don't want to and i don't really have the time either, but do you think i should? please explain more

woops my bad wrong post wall... nevermind

I'm sure you won't have much difficulty learning Michigan's fight song, considering it's 6 notes all in the same octave.

Any list that doesn't have Tennessee (Rocky Top) or Texas (Texas Fight) in the top 25 for best fight songs is a joke.

But wait... this was a list done by a "32 year old gamer"... NEXT!

Beaver stadium looks like its built from an erector set (seems poorly constructed and pretty ugly too)...perhaps they haven't finished renovations?:

You mean that variation of "I've been working on the railroad?"

"Beaver stadium looks like its built from an erector set (seems poorly constructed and pretty ugly too)...perhaps they haven't finished renovations?:"

Says the guy that has obviously never been there. Beaver Stadium is consistently listed at one of the top 5 toughest places for opposing teams to play. It is a gorgeous stadium and is a lot more practical for noise than Michigan's stadium, or any west coast stadium for that matter. You can't make a case that, besides holding more people, it's construction is any different than Tennessee's stadium, Kinnick stadium, Camp Randall, or any of the other stadiums that are not bowl shaped. Michigan's stadium is quite because of the bowl. The silence in sthe stadium after the App State loss wasn't unusual, I've been there before and that's what it sounds like all game.

You're right. I've never been to Happy Valley....which looks to be a gorgeous setting.

But, I can look at pictures. The stadium, to me, looks unfinished from the outside. I have no doubt that the stadium is loud and a tough place to play.

IMO, not the most attractive stadium...and the construction looks kinda "rinky-dink"...at least from this pic:
http://www.sopbc.org/archiveevents/2000%20Events/Summergames2000/games%202000/p1jumppics/BeaverStadium1.jpg

You mean "I've Been Working On the Railroad" should be a top 25 song? Also, "Rocky Top" is not Tennessee's fight song. They just play it constantly like tuos plays "Hang on Sloopy" all the time.

LOL. Just noticed UCB beat me to the post by about 10 hours!
