The U.S. has power of the "football" ...a lil device that the President has with him at all times that holds the codes to every nuclear weapon registered under the United States of America....we could blow up the world a few times over...China's no problem....Britain is nowhere near as sophisticated in their weaponry....the only country that has military technology that surpasses ours is Russia, and that's limited to their attack helicopter...faster, lighter, quieter, and more destructive than your average Apache...everything else...we have the upper hand
No. Refer to Tlaktan's post regarding the football.

And second of all, Russian military technology in no way even comes close to surpassing ours in any practical or applicable sense. Their engineers may design systems that on paper rival ours, but remember that a huge proportion of the once mighty russian military is rusting and rotting away in abandoned storage lots and warehouses. Russian conscript soldiers are malnourished, leaderless, and unpaid. Electronics are still reminiscent of archaic cold-war systems that the Russians were powerless to update even if they tried. Transportation, logistics, command and control units in the russian military and government are nearly nonexistent. Even the best designs the Russian military come up with (though they are still pretty good)are impossible to bring into service in a way that will actually allow them to use them to wage war with.

The countries that are competitive to the US military on the technological scale:

Britain
Israel
Germany
France

Britain
Israel
Germany
France

Israel??? Germany??? France??? Don't be stupid.

No actually you are the one being stupid if you don't realize that those 4 nations are both supplied and aided by US military advisors and technology. Also, those 4 nations have significant military strength in relation to the rest of the world. Notice that the list showed the countries that were RELATIVELY COMPARABLE (AKA NOT EQUAL) to the US. May I ask you if those 4 countries are not *relatively comparable to the US military technologically, which countries do you think are?

Japan?
Canada?
The crumbling shell that once was the great Soviet Union?

Obviously not Canada nor Japan. I didn't even mention Canada. How you can write israel when they can barely deal with palestinian terrorists? as for Germany, it was destroyed during the cold war when they tried to take over and was crushed by the Soviet union. being aided with US technology in military weapontry means nothing. Do you really think that the CIA would discard its secrets to France, Germany, and Israel???? The Israeli government can barely keep terrorists out of Jordan.

Are you reading this right? Obviously not.

The post stated 4 nations that were comparable to the US military on a purely TECHNOLOGICAL scale. YES, The Israeli military is comparable to the US military on a TECHNOLOGICAL scale considering that most of the weapons and equipment are designed by the US, developed in conjunction with the US, or advised by the US.

And *** does Germany being "destroyed" during the cold war have anything to do with anything? The west German military was always an integral part of the defense against the Soviet Union. When the Cold wAr finally ended and Germany was reunified, Germany one of the stronger nations in Europe.

Man, if you'd notice, the previous posts had nothing to do with the "CIA discarding secrets" or something like that.

These military advisements and joint developments were natural developments resulting from the COld War. As these countries are still critical members of NATO, the EU, and our influence in the Middle East, technological development is still shared. Where did you get the idea that top secret national intelligence was being freely handed out with other coutnries.

Oh please, the bush admin said Iraq had a weapon of mass destruction. Well the worst weapons so far have been a pair of Saddam's old gym socks. No country is comparable to the us on a technological scale. Even if they are, it doesn't imply that they have the capacity to challenge the US.

Did I ever imply that they had the capacity to challenge the US? NO!

However, these 4 nations are COMPARABLE (see dictionary for definition) to the US in BASIC MILITARY TECHNOLOGY mainly because it was the UNITED STATES that developed them, advised them, or helped build them!!!

Why is this so hard for you to understand? The US remains the world's only superpower and greatest military strength, but the capabilities of other nations doesn't amount to throwing rocks and singing war chants.

but the capabilities of other nations doesn't amount to throwing rocks and singing war chants.

Oh but it does! You silly kid. and quit flaming at me, i'm stressed out right now!

No I'm not flaming. I'm providing facts regarding the militaries of other nations, which you unfortunately aren't reading.

I don't think a non european country will ever be a super power, sorry. never happened, never will.

someone has a narrow view of the world...

I think North Korea has a strong military.

yeah, well i don't see them colonizing south korea anytime soon. Why? Because they're military isn't strong enough.

"yeah, well i don't see them colonizing south korea anytime soon. Why? Because they're military isn't strong enough."

Well, I dont see the U.S. invading Korea anytime soon. So what's your point?

I believe their military isnt fully developed yet. Once they are ready with alliances and all, they will be a very dangerous force to face.

I think North Korea has a strong military.
Strong only in numbers. Once they have crossed the border, they have little capability to actually fight a sustained war. It will be much like the Russian wave tactics of WW2. Throw men and equipment into the front line and overwhelm by sheer numbers. They have neither the industrial nor military capability to wage a sustained, offensive war against a military power like the US.

In your opinion, which country will ally itself with North Korea?

How about Iran and Syria?

Do we not forget that Britain was this so-called mega superpower with whom we fought in our own Revolutionary War. How naive some Americans can be sometimes. No one (IE nations other than France) thought we had a snowball's chance in hell of beating Great Britain in the Revolutionary War, but we did.

edit - Tom GO!! lol

WHAT?!? "Remember the Opium War" <- that was between Great Britain and China, not the US and China. And WHY would US want to fight another war when it's already "losing" enough? That decision could make history as the most innane decision to take millitary action.

bean001, i agree with you 100%

If U.S. again went to a war anytime this year, they will experience another Vietnam.
