Chinese as a minor for a fiance major?

i'm going to Carlson at minnesota next year and i plan to major in Finance and Intl Business (study abroad is required so this is easy to fulfill). and a minor in Management and chinese. it's very easy to double major and minor at carlson, a lot of their classes overlap in the new curriculum.

I'm a native chinese speaker and many people look down upon people who takes a language that they are already fluent in. yet, while i'm fluent in speaking, i'm not in writing or reading.

i'm definitly thinking about the future (and i want to work for an american company that has high level of exposure in china, but most business is operating in english, even in chian) and my question is would getting a minor in chinese/east asian study help me in securing that job. but that's a vague question. more so would it be necessary for me to pursue that minor or should i use the time to do something else or learn another language (german experience in high school).

thanks guys.

Sounds like a plan to me. Speaking a language won’t do that much good if you can’t read a business document. My sister is following the same plan with an eye to the future, only difference is that she is in 9th grade.

True but most business documents is in English now days.

go for it…
